NONAME and EXTREMUM have claimed the final two spots in the CIS Minor Closed Qualifier, after emerging victorious in the semi-finals of the fourth open qualifier.
The qualifier was the final chance for teams from the CIS region to progress to the closed qualifier, with only two spots remaining in the next stage.
NONAME progressed to the best-of-three stage defeating Defying Gravity in the quarter-finals. The semi-final matchup against buaksib proved to be a much closer affair, with both teams winning each other's map pick. NONAME found their form in the third, however, as they took the map dominantly, and the series 2-1.
Steamrolling through the other side of the bracket was EXTREMUM, who took down their opponents with ease on their way to the closed qualifier. Nikita "waterfaLLZ" Matveyev and co picked off Ambulance in the quarter-final and demolished Zorka in a 2-0 series win, securing a 16-5 scoreline on both maps.
Qualification for NONAME and EXTREMUM means the CIS Minor Open Qualifiers have come to a close, with the 16 participants for the closed qualifier having been determined. The tournament, which will run from June 8-10, will see the top eight teams secure progression to the CIS Minor, scheduled for July 24-28.
